The promo of Chakraborty-directed film ‘Welcome to New York’ tells you that this is a comedy movie. But in its concept, it is different from any Indian movie so far. The plot of the film is knit around an award show, which is also filmed on a real award show. In the film, ‘IIFA’ has been shown.
Bollywood stars participate in this award show for Bollywood fans abroad. Lots of comedies, dance performances and awards are often the hallmarks of such events. This is all you will see in this movie in a fun way. This kind of experimentation in the film is first seen in Robert Altman’s film ‘Ready to Wear’, in which the film was shot during the Paris Fashion Week.
The film is going to be preparing for the award show in New York, which is owned by Sophie (Lara Dutta). Sophie is special in taking credit, which can go to any extent to get it. He organizes a competition. Through this, she wants to give two participants an opportunity to share a stage with film personalities. In this way, actor Basti (Diljeet Dosanjh) from Punjab and dress designer Jeenal (Sonakshi Sinha) of Gujarat get a chance to become part of this award show.
But there is little reason to suddenly change their fate here. In fact, both of them are the worst participants in the hopes of Sophie, and through this, they want to make their plot a success to spoil the whole event. Here too, the competition and competition of taking credence like the Hindi film industry has been shown.
The story of the film is related to the IIFA Festival being held in New York. The owner of the festival, Gary (Boman Irani), is working with his assistant Sophie (Lara Dutta) to prepare for the festival. Gary has long been blaming his assistant Sophie for making a partner in the company but is not making partners. For a long time, Sophie, who has been talking about her boss, has found that the boss is cheating on her, so she plans to flop the award function in New York and spoil the company’s name.
According to its planning, Lara performs such talents for performance in the function, which is the worst thing. That is, they do not come to ABC for performing at the stage. Baij (Diljeet Dosanjh) is a Recovery Agent, while Jeetan Patel, which is Sonakshi Sinha, is a fashion designer. By the way, Jeet’s dream is to make a mark in Bollywood, but there is only zero in acting. At the same time, Karan Johar, who has anchored this function, is planning to do the kidnapping of his arch-rival Arjun (twin role). Now to see how this function can be achieved in such situations.
The film goes ahead with these two characters between laughter and joke. The special feature of this film, which was a good mix of entertainment, was that it got the support of IIFA. In the film, Karan Johar has falsely tormented comedy with his double role. On the lines of Karan-Arjun, his second attempt is to kill him because of making films like ‘something happens’. Humshakal Arjun considers Karan to be responsible for all his troubles. Karan has had a long experience of such awards show, which gives him the benefit of being here.
